The USA's very First Patent is memorialized upon the United States Mint's introductory coin, launching its new Innovation Dollar Coin Series. This gorgeous coin's design features the signature of President George Washington who signed our very first patent. The patent was awarded in April 10, 1790 to Samuel Hopkins who devloped a special procedure for processing potash.
