From Iowa comes the 36th site honored by the United States Mint's National Park Quarter Program. The Effigy Mounds National Monument Quarter was released February 6, 2017. The Quarter's design features an animal shaped mound built by Native Americans long ago. The Park is home to over 200 such mounds in the shapes of birds and wildlife.
